About Us

Our Mission Statement

NAEDU’s mission is to provide resources and community-based support to those who have experienced intimate partner violence or sexual assault. The resource support will be shared on the blog site so that individuals who would like to support have linkages to do so. Community-based support will be offered through the exchange of entries within the blog. This site is not designed to provide medical or psychiatric advice but instead, it is presented to be a safe place for support. NAEDU will host a blog and e-interactive activities for community education, advocacy awareness, and community development activities.

About Us

NAEDU was created as a safe space through blogging for those without a voice to express their feelings and provide possible resources. Growing up in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, our founder witnessed, observed, and heard of intimate partner violence (IPV).  At times it appears that such violence is accepted, especially if it “warranted.”  While attending undergraduate school, she knew classmates that were sexually assaulted and in physically abusive relationships.  Unfortunately, in most instances, the incidents were never reported to the proper authorities.   There were several reasons, but the most common was fear or the thoughts that no one believed them.   At the graduate level, the founder decided to research intimate partner violence (IPV) and its relationship to alcohol consumption.  Many individuals reached out to her regarding their childhood sexual abuse experience (s), sexual assault (s), and intimate partner violence due to the research topic. It is for these reasons why the blog was created.
